Summary

BACKSP!N was a charitable art exhibition for the Drumchapel Table Tennis Club (DTTC). The project showcased 60 table tennis paddles created by artists, designers and illustrators from across Scotland — as well as one dedicated table for the exhibition.

With the success and funds raised with the BACKSP!N exhibition, we wanted to create something special for the club as a legacy piece. We designed and self publish a book that could continue to raise the profile of the club, recognise the exhibition and showcase the wonderful creations by the artists. The book also allows the DTTC to continue to generate income with all proceeds from book sales going direct to the club.

The 140 page A5 book catalogues all the artists entries which have been beautifully shot front and back by photographer Emile Mbunzama. It gives details on each of the artists, their submission along with thanking the many people involved in making BACKSP!N a success.

Featured artists include celebrated comic book artist Frank Quitely, sculptor and Turner Prize winner Martin Boyce, Signwriter Rachel E Millar, renowned Scottish landscape painter Robert Kelsey, visual artists Raissa Pardini, artist Pam Carter, visual artist Craig Black, bookbinder Juju Books and many more.

The book is available online and in various independent stores in Scotland. It is also available to purchase directly from the DTTC who provide a key role and service in the Drumchapel community, as well as helping athletes grow and compete on a global level.
