Summary

Last year we were approached by Alastair Forbes Architects and Atholl Estates to produce a set of images for Glen Glack Cabins in rural Perthshire. The site is located to the north east of Dunkeld in a picturesque setting within a heavily wooded area and overlooks the Cally Loch, a small freshwater loch with surrounding walking trails. The eight timber cabins consist of three types and are categorized by colour - red, black and grey. The cabins were modelled to precise detail and placed on posts to minimise the footprint impact on the site. Whilst the cabins are reasonably simple objects in themselves, the site proved a challenge to do justice. The site was recreated as close as possible to reality. This involved building up layers of vegetation whilst reviewing composition and lighting. Midgies were added to one of the images to try and increase the sense of atmosphere. Later in the year we were asked to revisit the project to visualise positioning a temporary tent structure on the west bank of the loch to be used for public events. The client provided only precedent imagery showing the type of tent desired. With this information, we modelled the tent structure and researched potential uses for the space. We proposed a suitable a layout showing the space used as a wedding venue. Having spent considerable time on the project, it has been challenging and rewarding to create the images which capture the charm and unique setting of the lodges and event space. With the lodges now under construction and available this summer, it is expected that bookings will be popular with the use of the images within the marketing material.
