Professor Gordon Hush

Head of The Innovation School, The Glasgow School of Art

Professor Gordon Hush is Head of The Innovation School at The Glasgow School of Art. He originally trained as a Sociologist, writing a PhD that began by looking at how people went shopping but ended up considering how the things in our life shape our experience. Gordon then joined GSA to lecture on design history and culture and to explore how designers might use sociological research methods to design products and services that fit better with their users’ aspirations. This led to him becoming Head of Product Design in 2007, then Director of the Institute of Design Innovation (GSA) and in 2017 the inaugural Head of Innovation School. Gordon teaches internationally, as part of the Master of European Design consortium and with partner Schools around the world.
