Summary
Constructing positive change in an industry that desperately needs it, Akin is an LA-based collective of builders dedicated to crafting community-centric spaces.
Scottish strategic design studio Need worked with Akin to build a visual identity that looks refreshingly different to a standard construction company – because the Akin team isn’t a standard construction company.
Finding a balance between highlighting and celebrating the difference in Akin, while keeping a spotlight on the fact that they’re simply brilliant at what they do, was a key consideration throughout the project.
But at its core, this brand is all about beauty. That word was questioned, pulled apart, investigated. Why can’t construction be beautiful? Beauty isn’t something that has to be soft or delicate. It doesn’t need to be confined to the world of fashion or art. It shouldn’t be reserved for femininity. Beauty is for everyone, it’s everywhere, it’s in the everyday.
That’s the approach Need took for the look and feel of this identity. Editorial, artistic, strong, and alluring – all within this construction setting, this process of building.
Since launching, Akin has continued to go from strength to strength – using their scalable visual identity to communicate their ethos, showcase their projects, and ultimately increase their presence, projects and team members.
