Overview:
Mangoes to Lagos is a bold, transcontinental collaboration between Bature Brewery (Nigeria) and Brixton Brewery (UK). More than just a beer launch, this campaign was a celebration of cultural exchange and craft creativity, designed to capture attention and engage audiences internationally.
Objective:
To create a campaign that would authentically represent the collaboration’s Nigerian-UK roots, while standing out visually and experientially. The goal was to drive intrigue, spark social conversation, and generate a sense of pride and curiosity among beer enthusiasts in both markets — showcasing the first ever international collaboration for a Nigerian Craft Brewery.
Execution:
• Visual Identity: Inspired by Nigerian and South London cultural aesthetics, the campaign’s design blended bold, vibrant patterns and Illustrative characters and elements derived from a combination of both brands work to date. The hand-drawn mango assets and energetic colour palette reflected the beer’s tropical flavours and Lagos' vibrant street culture. This combination of branding between Bature Brewery and Brixton Brewery was again mirrored with a subtle nod to both logos based on Bature’s identifiable spiked edging. The standout label featured playful elements with hand-crafted type, giving it an authentic feel for both locations, tying into the street art-inspired styling and cultural references.
• Digital & Social Activation: The campaign rolled out across digital platforms with captivating visual content, clever copywriting and dynamic social media posts with interactive polls and countdowns, building anticipation pre-launch.
• Experiential Launch Events: Pop-up events in the Brewery in Lagos celebrated the release, with a larger focus on the London launch at Brixton Breweries home! Local musicians, street food vendors, and beer tastings creating a multi-sensory experience that embodied the campaign’s energy.
Impact:
• The campaign successfully drove cross-market engagement, with significant social media reach and PR coverage in both Nigeria, the UK and other international platforms.
• The visual identity and event activations established Mangoes to Lagos as more than just a great beer—but the first cultural collaboration for a Nigerian craft beer brand, bringing more flavour, art and intrigue from the West African market to the UK.
