Summary
Ben Lomond Scottish Gin had engaged with a huge variety of influencers over the past few years to help them promote and reinforce their brand positioning of being the ‘adventurous spirit’.
Challenge
To corral this content and give Ben Lomond Scottish Gin’s consumers a destination where they could access influencers’ stories and their cocktail recipes, we needed a single point of access. So we created a destination, and a dedicated part of the site, called the ‘Journal of Adventurous Serves’.
Background
Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Ben Lomond, the brand had a compelling origin story and had a truly distinctive gin, and the influencers they used helped to tap into that ‘adventurous spirit.’ With this in mind, we wanted to create an area where consumers could explore their content, discover more about their journey and see how their stories helped cement Ben Lomond’s brand positioning.
What We Did
To create a seamless experience for all of Ben Lomond Scottish Gin’s customers, we looked at a design that would encapsulate each influencer and break up each story into individual chapters.
This system offered the flexibility to add extra chapters as more influencers were brought onboard, and it offered a structured way to incorporate strong brand visual cues and authentic props that dovetailed between the influencer and the brand.
The web build for this project was similarly innovative, it naturally included curated content, and storytelling, but we also added a smooth scroll library to help increase user engagement and really draw people into each story. We also included:
1. Custom cursor with animated interaction states to further reflect the branding
2. Scroll-based animations including:
- Image/video grid reveal
- Text/quote colour reveals
- Multi-directional chapter image reveals
3. Page-to-page transitions to give it a more single app look and feel.
Each part of the build also ensured we had consistency in visual and narrative elements across all touchpoints, reinforcing the brand's identity and values.
Overall, by designing and building these pages, we brought each story to life and ensured that Ben Lomond Scottish Gin’s ‘Adventurous Spirit’ is always at the forefront.
