Summary

Cooking up a tasty new app for Scotlands leading hospitality group.

With 21 venues and counting, Buzzworks has built their reputation on exceptional food, drink, and their commitment to "Making people feel great." Our challenge was to translate this warm hospitality into a digital environment that feels just as welcoming.

Buzzworks' existing Benefit loyalty scheme (launched in 2009) relied on physical cards and a clunky web portal that didn't capture their brand essence. We needed to create something guests would genuinely want to use – enhancing the Buzzworks experience.

We developed a pocket-sized membership system transforming how guests interact with the brand. The app tracks rewards, points, and tier progression, with digital wallet integration ensuring it's always available when you need it.

The app recognises individual preferences, allowing Buzzworks to thank customers meaningfully – like offering a complimentary glass of Malbec to steak lovers, or sending a bottle of Prosecco on your birthday.

To capture Buzzworks' atmosphere, we balanced warm brand colours with modern typography, mixing serif and sans-serif fonts; inspired by how their venues blend tradition with contemporary touches.

The interface has a clean layout with clear hierarchy for intuitive navigation. We integrated brand photography of venue interiors, staff, and delicious food to mentally transport users to their favourite Buzzworks venue.

The app integrates with Buzzworks' existing Seven Rooms booking system, allowing guests to manage reservations effortlessly. Gift card functionality enables customers to purchase, view, and redeem entirely through the app.

Our menu design prioritises the loyalty programme (the main focus of the app) while maintaining access to all features. We developed visual "spendometers" giving users immediate understanding of their spending and tier progression.

We spent a lot of time differentiating membership tiers visually. The entry-level offers a clean experience, with more colour at the second tier, and an exclusive dark mode for highest tier members – creating moments of delight when members level up.
