Summary
Our client who lives and works mainly overseas, required a base in their hometown of Glasgow. They had purchased the property twenty years ago, but had not lived in it much over that time and it had instead seen a series of rental tenants over that time. Despite, it’s tired appearance, the property offered an ideal location in the Park Circus area, however, after years of tenants, it required a great deal of TLC.
Located on the upper two floors of a West End Victorian Townhouse, the property was a three-bed duplex flat with breathtaking south facing views across Glasgow. This promptly resulted in the aptly named SkyBar. All we needed to do was ensure that the refurbished property matched up to it’s new name.
We initially considered some minor structural changes; however, with an eye on budget, it was going to be easy to spend an eye-watering sum to create something special and consequently, we set out to do what was ‘needed’ and no more. Structural adjustments were discounted and we worked with the spaces that the flat presented to us.
The brief was to provide a welcoming environment, a home from home; something akin to a boutique luxury hotel accommodation with generous storage to minimise hauling suitcases across the world, functionally sized sleeping spaces and a well-appointed living dining and cooking area which would become the heart of the home.
