Summary
Lizzy is a graphic designer and illustrator based in sunny Glasgow. With both freelance and agency experience, she works across print, illustration, motion and 3D design. Since making Scotland her home, she has supported highly regarded institutions such as Risotto Studio, and is now a multi-disciplinary designer at Tangent. She has a strong love for analogue processes and enjoys translating the imperfections associated with these methods into our increasingly digital world.
Using bold colour and shape, Lizzy’s approach injects joy into her projects. Outside her work at Tangent, she has created exhibition and poetry anthology publications for Glasgow’s The Alchemy Experiment, and been commissioned to create illustrations for The Skinny. She completed her Bachelor of Communication Design (Dean’s Scholar) in Australia in 2020, and was recognised in the Australian Graphic Design Awards for her 3D printed Japanese ‘hiragana’ characters. The project encouraged young children to learn and engage with language through play, and the characters were printed using recycled PET-bottle filament.
Lizzy uses her skillset and interest in sustainability to promote environmentally friendly practices to clients such as carbon neutral paper stocks, and she is passionate about inclusivity and information sharing in the design industry – recently beginning to volunteer with Ladies, Wine & Design (Glasgow) to run events and workshops for folk who are under-represented in the Scottish design industry.
While at Tangent, she has been a key team member for a number of projects, including developing the visual identity for the 2024 Homeless World Cup, and creating custom prints and assisting with roll-out for Perth Museum’s acclaimed relaunch and their first exhibition, Unicorn. Lizzy co-facilitated a series of workshops with a group of young people from Aberlour children’s charity to create a logo for their 250th year, and her French-language skills were an asset to the team rolling-out dual-language signage and wayfinding for the Invictus Games.
Lizzy has always been keen to learn and is currently working hard to extend her motion and 3D modelling abilities, with which she takes a lot of inspiration from Scotland’s rugged yet incredibly welcoming landscape.
