Glaswegian design studio Friends of Wilson (FOW) is shining a light on workplace design with the launch of a new range of sound-absorbent wool felt lighting.

Specialists in acoustic wall panels, hanging screens, room dividers and artwork FOW has launched the Linear Acoustic Light, pitched as a means of elevating lighting within interior architecture by combining a warm glow with sound-deadening qualities to create a calming and stimulating work environment.

Designer Lynne Wilson commented: “Working with high-quality UK-based manufacturers including a wool felt heritage manufacturer, we have developed a range of products that help to create positive, calm, well-designed spaces for people to enjoy working in. Linear Lighting is the latest addition to our range which includes acoustic screens, wall panels and artwork – all incorporating 100% natural wool felt.

“Linear’s simple construction and interchangeable modular parts allow it to be disassembled, repurposed, reused, and ultimately recycled.  Made from recycled and natural materials it demonstrates our studio’s commitment to sustainability and design for the circular economy.”

Ross Hunter, founding director of Graven Design Studio, added: “Decorative lighting plays a key role in how a space functions visually and acoustically. With employers seeking to create workspaces that are functional and well-designed for today’s flexible working needs, acoustic lighting has an important role to play in encouraging employees to spend more time in collaborative working environments.”

Intended for use in boardrooms, restaurants and meeting rooms the modular fittings emphasise biophilic design trends.
