A celebrity interior designer has launched her own brand spirit, distilled by Glasgow’s Jacobite Distillers.
Past Scottish Design Awards judge Anna-Campbell Jones, best known for her role on BBC Scotland’s Home of the Year, has branched out into the rum business with a limited edition bottle.
Restricted to just 800 units in its first batch, the Scottish Botanical Rum is a collaboration between Jones and John McIlvogue of Old & Rare Whisky to create a drink that is rooted in the geography, nature and people of Scotland.
Shaking off dominant Caribbean styles, the drink heralds a move by the designer into a new arena of creative production. Jones commented: “With this botanical white rum, I wanted to bottle a feeling – the bright, windswept joy of the Scottish landscape, where wild mint, elderberry, nettle and heather grow. It’s a spirit shaped by craft and curiosity, a little unexpected, a little playful, and unmistakably Scottish. And because of its fresh, herbaceous character, it makes the perfect mojito. Also delicious neat on the rocks, each sip brings a sense of discovery and delight.”
