Glasgow

The City of Glasgow has established a new destination marketing team to promote the city on the world stage.

The Destination Marketing and Management Organisation (DMMO) seeks to unite the marketing, tourism and conference sectors to bring more investment, conferences and visitors to Glasgow. Unifying existing approaches and assets under a single brand and leadership, the new body should be up and running by the end of the year.

Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken said: “What we need to get better at is telling our story – to the world and, crucially, to our own citizens. The new DMMO will serve as the city’s voice to the world, uniting all those things which make Glasgow great under the one compelling brand.”

Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, added: “The creation of a single body to unite the city’s assets and resources under a consistent and coherent brand will strengthen Glasgow’s profile and ensure it is well positioned to seize the significant economic opportunities ahead.

“In an increasingly competitive global landscape, cities must work harder than ever to attract visitors and investment. Glasgow’s decision to create a dedicated destination marketing organisation demonstrates real ambition and a strong commitment to growth, which will be welcomed across the business community.”

The combined body will pull together staff from Invest Glasgow, the Glasgow Convention Bureau and Glasgow Life Destination Marketing to realise a new, fully integrated approach.
