Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service

Summary

The Jack Copland Centre, is a new state of the art national centre for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBS) – named after the founder of the first Scottish blood transfusion service in 1930 - it is based at Heriot Watt Research Park in Edinburgh.

The Jack Copland Centre delivers a first rate service in the processing, testing, supply, research and development of blood and donor tissues and cells. Blood donations from across Scotland will be sent here for processing, testing and manufacturing before being transported to where they are needed for patients.

Colin Sinclair, Chief Executive of National Services Scotland, added: "This is an exciting step forward and the fantastic new facility will not only deliver a modern blood supply service to patients, but create a vibrant, modern environment for our staff to work in.
