The Glenkinchie Distillery project for Diageo comprises of the refurbishment and upgrading of a collection of Victorian Category ‘B’ listed buildings. Our brief was the conversion of the redundant Maturation Warehouse to create a new visitor experience. Glenkinchie, lovingly known as ‘The Garden Distillery’ is one of the last remaining lowland distilleries. St Matthew’s Parish Church in Bishopbriggs has undergone a transformational refurbishment, creating a new interior in the existing sanctuary, extending the side aisle, and providing new accessible facilities. The intention of the project was to restore the spirit of the original building, while embracing artistic contemporary interventions that are worthy of their setting. Situated on Commercial Street in Leith, these Category ‘A’ listed former bonded warehouses create an impressive street frontage to the south-west and the quayside to the north- east. Our client’s brief was to convert them into ‘edgy’ serviced office spaces. Once cool offices of the 90s, the buildings now looked tired and uninspiring. As part of the Scottish Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic a temporary hospital was considered, to be delivered by the Scottish Government in conjunction with NHS National Services Scotland (NHSNSS).
