Summary

The name ‘432’ comes from 432hz which is recognised to be the tone that the natural world resonates at. The greatest musicians, such as Mozart and Verdi, based their music on the natural vibration of 432hz. With such an evocative name we decided to create a set of visual tools that represented the name and significance of it. We worked with a sound specialist to develop tools which could help us visualise what 432hz could actually look like, effectively ‘painting with sound’.

A series of patterns and images were developed that used a combination of sound analysis tools, taking the wave pattern of the frequency from an oscilloscope and then using spectrographic analysis we combined these together to create completely unique image forms. We also integrated a randomisation element into the colour system of the spectrograph to create colour patterns to create a series of images that are never the same twice.

The images were then combined to create the graphical elements for each of these posters. They have also been rolled out in the individual gig posters to provide a vibrant sense of brand consistency and awareness.
